A 22-year-old Cobourg woman is facing multiple charges following an intimate partner violence investigation.
Cobourg Police say the investigation began at approximately 6:10 p.m. on July 14, when an officer on general patrol observed a man walking in the community with what appeared to be visible scratches and cuts.
Police say further investigation determined the man had allegedly been assaulted by his partner inside a residence. Officers also learned that property had been damaged during the incident.
The woman was arrested and charged with assault – spousal, assault with a weapon – spousal, and mischief – spousal.
She was later released on an undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court at a future date.
In keeping with standard practice in cases involving intimate partner violence, Cobourg Police have not released the identity of the accused to protect the identity of the complainant.
Police continue to remind anyone experiencing intimate partner violence, or anyone concerned about someone they know, that support is available through police and community agencies.
