A 40-year-old Port Hope man is facing a domestic assault charge following an intimate partner violence investigation.
The Port Hope Police Service says officers responded on Sunday, July 12, to a report of a woman in distress in the east end of Port Hope.
After arriving at the scene, officers determined the incident involved intimate partner violence.
Following the investigation, the Port Hope man was arrested and charged with domestic assault.
Police say the accused was later released on an officer-in-charge undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
Anyone experiencing intimate partner violence or concerned about someone they know is encouraged to contact police or local support services.
