Two people have been charged following a Port Hope Police investigation into a series of thefts from vehicles across the municipality.
Police say officers have been investigating multiple reports of vehicles being entered and property stolen since early June.
On the evening of June 24, officers arrested a Port Hope resident and a Cobourg resident in connection with the investigation.
The Port Hope resident faces multiple charges, including five counts of failing to comply with a probation order, five counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and 13 counts of unauthorized use of credit card data.
The Cobourg resident has been charged with seven counts of failing to comply with a probation order, three counts each of theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, as well as four counts of unauthorized use of credit card data.
Police are reminding residents that simple precautions can help reduce the risk of becoming a victim of theft.
Officers encourage vehicle owners to always lock their doors, remove valuables from plain view and report any suspicious activity to police as soon as possible.
