A Cramahe Township man is facing multiple criminal charges following an investigation into a collision that left an ATV rider with life-threatening injuries earlier this year.
Members of the Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police say the incident occurred on April 4 at approximately 3:15 a.m. on Huycke Road in the Township of Cramahe.
Police, firefighters and paramedics responded to reports of a person in a ditch and located a heavily damaged all-terrain vehicle nearby. The injured individual was transported to a local hospital before being airlifted to another medical facility with life-threatening injuries.
Investigators later identified the driver of a second vehicle believed to have been involved in the collision.
Joseph Huycke, 33, has been charged with dangerous operation causing bodily harm, failure to stop after an accident resulting in bodily harm, and obstructing a peace officer.
The charges have not been proven in court.
Huycke is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on July 15.
The investigation is being led by the Northumberland OPP Crime Unit under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance from OPP Forensic Identification Services and the Central Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team.
