Young people in Cobourg now have a new place to gather, stay active and connect with friends.
The Town of Cobourg has launched Youth Zone, a new drop-in program at the Cobourg Community Centre designed for youth between the ages of 12 and 18.
The program began June 17 and will run every Wednesday and Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with the exception of July 1.
Youth Zone offers a variety of activities aimed at providing a positive and welcoming environment for local teens. Participants will have access to the gymnasium for recreational sports and games, while the Seniors Room will be available for social activities, games and informal gatherings.
The program also includes access to free Wi-Fi and opportunities for young people to connect with peers, build friendships and explore new interests.
Town officials say the initiative is intended to create a safe and inclusive space where youth can spend time after school and during the evening while taking part in healthy and engaging activities.
The program is being offered at the Cobourg Community Centre, located at 750 D’Arcy Street.
The Town says that Youth Zone is just the beginning, with plans already underway to expand programming this fall.
More information about the program is available through the Cobourg Community Centre by calling 905-372-7371 or by emailing cccinfo@cobourg.ca.
