As more Canadians look closer to home for vacation ideas, DeNure Tours says there’s never been a better time to explore what’s waiting in our own backyard.
The Lindsay-based company has been operating for 66 years and offers guided motor coach tours, cruises, hiking adventures, sightseeing trips and long-stay programs throughout North America. While destinations stretch from coast to coast, Marketing Manager Jessica Bullock says interest in Canadian travel has been especially strong this year.
Among the company’s Canadian offerings are tours to Newfoundland and Labrador, Cape Breton, Prince Edward Island, the Canadian Rockies, Yukon and Northern Lights adventures. Many itineraries are built around experiences that go beyond traditional sightseeing.
Bullock says one of the most popular examples comes during Newfoundland tours, where travellers have the opportunity to meet people whose stories inspired the hit musical Come From Away.
Travellers can also take part in traditional Newfoundland kitchen parties, learn to play the “ugly stick,” and enjoy cultural experiences that are difficult to replicate on independent trips.
Beyond the destinations, Bullock says many guests discover something else unexpected: friendship.
Bullock says DeNure’s new summer travel brochure will be released next week, highlighting long-stay programs in destinations including Italy, Spain, Portugal, Cancun, Myrtle Beach and of course Canada. The company’s annual summer sale begins June 22.
