Behind the scenes of building searches, patrol calls and community demonstrations across Northumberland, a team of highly trained working dogs is helping support safety efforts in a unique way.
K9ine Security, founded in 2019 by CEO David Hutnyk, specializes in canine assisted security and patrol work across Ontario. Hutnyk launched the company after more than two decades in the security industry, believing there was room for stronger training, greater professionalism and a more community focused approach.
At the centre of that vision was a rescue dog named Pepper.
David Hutnyk tells us Pepper was originally adopted simply as a pet before quickly revealing instincts that pointed toward security and tracking work.
The company regularly participates in demonstrations at schools, fairs and community events, including the Port Hope Fall Fair, helping residents better understand how trained working dogs operate.
Below, you can also hear more about K9ine Security operations today including specialized canine programs across Ontario and their continued participation in community outreach and education initiatives throughout Northumberland.
