It’s been another busy couple of days for Northumberland OPP with drone operators arrested near Warkworth Institution, and several crash investigations.
Here’s your latest Northumberland OPP rundown:
ARRESTS MADE AFTER DRONE ACTIVITY NEAR WARKWORTH INSTITUTION:
Last Sunday, shortly after 6:30 p.m., police said suspicious remotely piloted aerial system (drone) activity was reported near Warkworth Institution.
Officers said they attended the area and found two individuals on Percy Boom Road.
As a result of the investigation, police said a drone, cellphones and about 650 grams of suspected drugs, including cocaine, methamphetamine, and cannabis, were allegedly seized.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 31-year-old resident from Gatineau, Que. was charged with mischief – obstructs, interrupts or interferes with the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property, possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, and delivers contraband to, or receives contraband from an inmate.
Another 27-year-old resident from Montreal, Que. was also charged with mischief – obstructs, interrupts or interferes with the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property, possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, and delivers contraband to, or receives contraband from an inmate.
IMPAIRED, DANGEROUS DRIVING CHARGES LAID AFTER PORT HOPE CRASH:
On May 15, 2026, shortly after 3:30 p.m., emergency crews responded to a single-vehicle collision on County Road 10 in the Municipality of Port Hope.
When officers arrived on scene, they found a passenger vehicle in the ditch and after speaking with the driver, an impaired driving investigation was initiated, reported OPP.
As a result, the accused was taken into custody and transported to hospital with non-serious injuries.
The probe has led to a 19-year-old Millbrook resident charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and dangerous operation.
The accused also had their licence suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle impounded for seven days.
ASSAULTING A PEACE OFFICER, IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGES LAID:
On May 12, 2026, at about 8:20 p.m., EMS and police responded to a single-vehicle collision on Allan Mills Road in the Municipality of Trent Hills after a passenger vehicle left the roadway, said OPP.
After officers arrived on scene and talked with the uninjured driver, an impaired driving investigation was initiated, resulting in an arrest. While in custody, police allege the accused caused damage within the detachment and assaulted an officer.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 41-year-old Frankford resident was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, failure or refusal to comply with demand, mischief – destroys or damages property and assaulting a peace officer.
Again, the accused also had their licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
