The Cobourg Police Service says a Cobourg man is facing multiple charges following an investigation involving alleged child sexual abuse and drug trafficking.
Police say the investigation began in April 2026 after officers received a report of an alleged sexual assault.
On May 12, members of the Cobourg Police Service Criminal Investigation Bureau and uniform officers executed a Criminal Code search warrant at a residence on King Street East in Cobourg.
As a result of the investigation, police say they’ve arrested and charged a 53 year old Cobourg man on several offences.
According to police, the charges include administering a noxious thing, possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine, sexual assault, sexual interference, child luring, and making or accessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material.
Police say the accused was held for a show cause hearing.
The Cobourg Police Service is asking anyone with information related to the investigation to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
Police also note reports of online child sexual exploitation can be submitted through Cybertip.ca.
The charges have not been proven in court.
