The Cobourg Lawn Bowling Club is celebrating a major facility upgrade after receiving a $44,600 Ontario Trillium Foundation grant to support construction of a new equipment shed in Victoria Park.
The provincial funding was highlighted during a community event Saturday recognizing completion of the project.
According to club officials, the new larger shed replaces an aging structure and will improve storage, safety and security for lawn bowling supplies, maintenance equipment and tools used to maintain the greens.
The project also included aesthetic improvements designed to align with the heritage character of Victoria Park.
Northumberland Peterborough South MPP David Piccini says the investment will help strengthen recreation opportunities and community connections through the long running club.
Cobourg Lawn Bowling Club Executive Committee Director Tammy Browes-Bugden says the grant was critical in allowing the non profit organization to move ahead with the upgrade.
She says the project would have been difficult to manage financially without provincial support.
Mayor Lucas Cleveland says the lawn bowling club continues to play an important role in the community as both a recreational facility and social gathering place for residents.
Established in 1907, the Cobourg Lawn Bowling Club has operated continuously from its Victoria Park location for nearly 120 years.
The club describes lawn bowling as an affordable outdoor activity that encourages active living and social connection for people of all ages.
The Ontario Trillium Foundation says this is just one of 746 community projects it has invested nearly 107 million dollars into across Ontario during the 2025-26 funding year.
