A funeral service is getting underway this morning at the Cobourg Community Centre for fallen Northumberland OPP Sgt. Brandon Malcolm.
While the service isn’t open to the public, there is a livestream. The service gets underway at about 10:30 a.m.
Thousands are paying tribute to Malcolm, who tragically died in the line of duty in a crash on Hwy. 401 in Cobourg last Monday, April 27.
The turnout already this morning during the funeral cortege was immense and heart-wrenching as first-responders, residents and even kids gathered to honour the fallen sergeant, lining local streets heading towards the CCC and overpasses along the 401.
Malcom served with Northumberland OPP since 2020 and was a member of the elite Golden Helmets precision motorcycle team. Prior to his service here, he also served with the Toronto Police auxiliary and Canadian Armed Forces.

He was just 33 years old when died.
MBC will have more to come on this story throughout the day.
