Dink Den official ribbon cutting May 1st, 2026
Cobourg’s newest indoor pickleball facility is officially open, marking a major milestone for one of the fastest-growing sports in Northumberland and Canada.
The Dink Den held its ribbon cutting today (May 1, 2026), following a soft opening that has already attracted hundreds of players. The purpose-built facility offers year-round access to the sport, something local enthusiasts have been waiting for as demand continues to grow.
Founder Derek Munroe says the moment was emotional after years of work to bring the vision to life.
Munroe says early response has been strong, with hundreds of people already signing up through the facility’s app and booking court time.
The Dink Den is designed to be more than just a place to play, it’s intended as a community hub, reflecting pickleball’s social and inclusive culture that has fueled its rapid rise in popularity.
That growth is also being felt at the municipal level.
Cobourg Mayor Lucas Cleveland says the facility helps address increasing demand for courts while giving the town time to plan for future public infrastructure.
The facility will also play a role in community fundraising, hosting events like the first ever Northumberland Pickleball Classic in support of Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation.
Munroe says giving back is a key part of the mission, with more events planned to support local organizations.
With strong early momentum and a growing membership base, The Dink Den is quickly establishing itself as a new home for pickleball in Northumberland.
