La Jeunesse Choirs is preparing for a special musical homecoming this weekend as Juno Award-winning trio Good Lovelies joins the organization for its spring concert in Cobourg.
The concert, titled All Things Good and Lovely, takes place Sunday, May 3rd at 3 p.m. at Trinity United Church.
The event will feature performances by all of La Jeunesse Choirs’ ensembles alongside Good Lovelies, the acclaimed Canadian harmony trio known for their folk-inspired sound.
For two members of the trio, Kerri Ough and Sue Passmore, the performance is also a return to where their musical journey began.
Both singers are alumni of La Jeunesse Choirs and performed under founding artistic director Marie Anderson.
Organizers say the concert will be a meaningful homecoming, celebrating both the growing talent of today’s singers and the accomplishments of former choir members.
The program will include choral arrangements of some of Good Lovelies’ popular songs, performances by all three La Jeunesse choirs, and featured selections from the trio themselves.
Artistic Director Christine Rabey says it is a valuable experience for children and youth in the choir to work alongside accomplished musicians who were once in the same program.
She says it helps young performers see what can be achieved through music and dedication, while giving audiences a joyful and memorable concert experience.
Tickets are 35 dollars and are available through the Victoria Hall Box Office online, or by cash or card at the door pending availability.
Organizers say the concert promises a special afternoon of music, celebration, and community connection in Cobourg.
