Community Care Northumberland says its Annual Easter Cookie Fundraiser has raised $5,900 to support its Meals on Wheels program across Northumberland County.
The fundraiser ran from March 3rd to March 27th and invited community members to purchase Easter themed cookies handmade by Roda’s Kitchen. Organizers say the strong response from local residents helped fund 590 nutritious meals for clients who rely on the service.
Meals on Wheels provides affordable, ready to eat meals to seniors, individuals with disabilities, and people recovering from illness or surgery. Community Care Northumberland says the program plays an important role in helping residents remain safe, healthy, and connected while living at home.
CEO Jordan Prosper says the organization is grateful for the continued support from the community, donors, volunteers, and Roda’s Kitchen, noting the fundraiser helps provide not only nourishment, but also care and connection for those in need.
Nutrition Services Manager Sheri Birney also thanked staff and volunteers, saying their dedication is central to the success of the program and its impact across the county.
Officials say the annual fundraiser continues to be an important source of support for Meals on Wheels and helps ensure the program can reach more residents throughout Northumberland.
Community Care Northumberland is encouraging residents who would like to learn more about Meals on Wheels or support the program to visit its website for additional information.
