Cobourg council will hold two special meetings this week, including one focused on closed session matters and another highlighting an international municipal partnership program.
The first meeting is scheduled for April 22 at 1 p.m. and will move into closed session under the Municipal Act. Officials say the session will address personal matters, legal advice subject to solicitor-client privilege, and confidential information that could impact negotiations or organizational operations.
A second special meeting will take place April 23 at 11 a.m., with a focus on the Town’s involvement in the Partnerships for Municipal Innovation – Women in Local Leadership program.
Council will receive an overview from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, along with presentations from representatives of the Federation of Sri Lanka Local Government Authorities. The program supports collaboration between Canadian and international municipalities, with a focus on strengthening leadership opportunities for women in local government.
The session will also include updates on Cobourg’s contributions to the initiative to date, as well as presentations highlighting local government service initiatives in Sri Lanka.
A ceremonial presentation of appreciation is also scheduled as part of the meeting.
Both meetings are open to the public for the portions not held in closed session and will be available to attend in person or by livestream through the Town’s website.
Residents can also submit questions or feedback to the Clerk’s office ahead of the meetings.
