Cobourg police say a 26-year-old man is facing charges following a sexual assault investigation.
Police say the investigation began in February 2026 after an alleged incident at a residence in Cobourg.
As a result of the investigation, police say a 26-year-old Cobourg man was arrested on April 14. He has been charged with administering a noxious thing and sexual assault.
Police say the accused was held for a bail hearing and was been remanded into custody.
Cobourg police say there is no statute of limitations for sexual offences and individuals can be prosecuted well after the date of an alleged incident.
Officials are encouraging anyone who believes they may have been a victim of sexual assault to come forward and report the incident to police.
