Cobourg police say several individuals are facing charges following a series of unrelated incidents in the community this week, including assault, impaired driving, and possession of a stolen vehicle.
Police say officers were called to a residence March 23 after a reported disturbance involving a verbal and physical dispute. During the arrest, police say an officer was kicked. A 19 year old Cobourg woman was arrested and charged with assault, spousal assault, and assaulting a peace officer. She was held for a bail hearing.
In two separate incidents, police say impaired driving reports led to arrests on March 25 and March 26. A 48 year old Pickering man was stopped near Division and King Streets after officers received a report of possible impaired driving. In a separate case, a 29 year old Cobourg man was stopped near Elgin Street West and Ontario Street following a similar report. Police say both were charged with impaired operation and released on undertakings with future court dates.
Police are reminding the public to report suspected impaired driving by calling 911 and to plan for a safe ride home.
In another incident, police say a traffic stop on Elgin Street March 25 led to the arrest of a Cobourg man after officers determined the vehicle had been reported stolen. During a search, police say officers located a quantity of suspected steroids and multiple key fobs linked to luxury vehicles.
A 51 year old Cobourg man faces several charges and was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody.
