Lakelands Public Health is inviting residents across the region, including Northumberland County, to help shape the future of public health through a series of Community Town Halls.
The sessions are designed to create an open forum where residents can share their ideas, concerns, and priorities, with feedback helping to guide planning and future public health initiatives.
“Public health affects nearly every aspect of our daily lives,” said Medical Officer of Health Dr. Thomas Piggott. “We want to hear directly from residents about what challenges they’re seeing in their communities and what supports would make the biggest difference.”
Each town hall will begin with a brief overview of Lakelands Public Health services, followed by interactive discussions with staff. Participants will also have the opportunity to complete a short survey to provide additional feedback and share ideas on how to strengthen programs and services.
Officials say the sessions are open to residents, community organizations, healthcare providers, and anyone interested in improving health and wellbeing in their community.
“These conversations are an important part of ensuring public health services reflect the evolving needs of the people we serve,” Piggott added. “Community voices are essential in shaping what comes next.”
In Northumberland County, the town hall is scheduled for April 15 at 7 p.m. at Office Linx in Port Hope. Other sessions will take place April 14 in Haliburton County, May 20 in Kawartha Lakes, and May 26 in Peterborough.
Additional sessions will also be held in local First Nations communities and through a virtual Indigenous session.
Residents can register online through the Lakelands Public Health Eventbrite page.
