The Town of Cobourg has launched a new website aimed at helping residents and prospective candidates prepare for the 2026 municipal and school board election.
CobourgVotes.ca is now live and serves as a centralized source for election information, including details on voting, candidate nominations and third party advertising.
According to the Town, the website will be updated regularly to ensure residents have access to accurate and timely information as the election approaches. Unofficial election results will also be posted on the site on voting day.
The municipal election is scheduled for Monday, October 26, 2026, with the online voting period opening October 16. Voting in Cobourg will be conducted entirely online, allowing eligible voters to cast their ballots from anywhere.
Residents are encouraged to confirm or update their voter information through Elections Ontario, which maintains the Permanent Register of Electors used for municipal elections.
To be eligible to vote, individuals must be 18 years of age or older, a Canadian citizen, and either live in Cobourg, own or rent property in the municipality, or be the spouse of someone who does.
For those interested in running for office, the nomination period opens May 1. The Town will host a candidate information session on April 30 at 7 p.m. at Venture13, with additional sessions planned.
Town officials say the website is designed to make it easier for residents to stay informed, participate in the election process and consider running for council.
