Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement saying freezing rain is possible tonight in the Northumberland and Quinte regions.
As of the morning of Thursday, March 5, 2026, officials are calling for potential ice accretion or buildup overnight up to two millimetres.
Statements have been issued for east and west Northumberland and the Quinte areas.
As for timing, the freezing rain is predicted to start this evening and end overnight or early Friday morning.
Officials note areas near Lake Ontario will be on the northern edge of the weather system tonight.
A few hours of freezing rain may occur, although it’s possible the majority of the precipitation will remain just south of the region, explains Environment Canada.
Officials say the area is being monitored for potential freezing rain warnings.
