Northumberland OPP has charged a Belleville resident following an investigation into an alleged fraud involving building design and planning services in the Municipality of Brighton.
Police say on September 19, 2024, officers received a complaint regarding an individual who had been engaged to provide design and planning services at a local business. The caller also reported that false documents had been produced to secure the transaction.
As a result of the investigation, police sought and obtained a warrant.
On February 27, 2026, officers arrested Matthew Goheen, 39, of Belleville.
He has been charged with fraud over $5,000 and obtaining by false pretence.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in March.
Police have not released further details about the case.
