A young person has been charged following a child sexual assault investigation in Trenton.
The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police says officers received a report on Sunday, February 22, 2026, alleging that a child had been sexually assaulted by a youth at a local daycare.
Following an investigation, a 14-year-old was charged under the Criminal Code with invitation to sexual touching under 16 years of age, sexual interference, and sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age.
Police confirm that parents and guardians of other children attending the daycare have been notified to ensure they are aware of the investigation.
Under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the identity of the accused cannot be released.
The investigation remains ongoing.
