Green Wood Coalition has announced the return of Whole and Well, a free community based wellness program in Port Hope focused on inclusion, empowerment and connection.
The program offers gentle yoga, breathwork, mindful movement and Red Path teachings designed to support balance, self compassion and confidence. Organizers say the sessions encourage participants to quiet the mind, build awareness and find strength both on and off the mat. Time for connection is built into each gathering, with tea, coffee and snacks reinforcing the importance of relational wellness.
Whole and Well takes place Mondays from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at 131 Walton Street at St. Paul’s Church and is offered free of charge thanks to funding from Northumberland United Way.
Alicia Vandine, Executive Director of United Way Northumberland, says the organization is proud to support the initiative through its Haven for All funding under the Learn strategy, noting that strengthening mental health is essential to building a community where everyone belongs.
Kim Jaye of Green Wood Coalition says the support affirms the importance of preventative, relationship based programming that strengthens both individuals and the broader community.
Additional support for the pilot program was provided by the Ryan Huffman Foundation, with partnership from Northumberland Hills Community Mental Health Services.
Green Wood Coalition says Whole and Well reflects its ongoing commitment to reducing isolation, strengthening mental well being and creating spaces where people can grow, belong and thrive together.
