Skeleton racer and Brighton’s Hallie Clarke has wrapped up heats 1 and 2 at the Winter Olympics today (Friday, Feb. 13) and she will be in action on the track tomorrow for her final heats in Italy.
The 21-year-old racer finished heat 1 with a time of 58.51 and started 12th after official training earlier this week out of a group of 25 athletes in the women’s skeleton racing. She was first up to represent Team Canada.
After the first run, the initial results had her ranked in 21st. Heat 2 got underway just before noon, where Clarke bested her first time at 58.22.
According to Olympics.com’s official results following both races, she’s in 20th now heading into the final heats tomorrow, with a cumulative time of 1:56.73. This puts her time behind at +2.25.
Heat 3 gets underway tomorrow – Saturday, Feb. 14 around noon – and heat 4 at about 1:30 p.m., after which, the winners will later be declared.
As previously reported, Brighton is also rallying at the Owen Gibb Community Hall (inside King Edward) tomorrow for an Olympic watch party and to cheer on the record-breaking world champ at home.
Also representing Team Canada in skeleton is Jane Channell, who is sitting in 15th heading into tomorrow with a cumulative time of 1:56.22.
In first after today’s heats is Austria’s Janine Flock with a cumulative time of 1:54.48.
