Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police have charged a driver following a single-vehicle collision in the Municipality of Trent Hills.
On December 9, 2025, shortly before 3:00 p.m., officers responded to a report of a pick-up truck in the ditch near County Road 25 and Dominion Street. After speaking with the driver, police initiated an impaired driving investigation, and the individual was taken into custody and transported to a local detachment.
Kirsten Hasted, 50, from Cobourg, has been charged with operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs, and failure or refusal to comply with a demand. In addition, a 90-day Administrative Driver License Suspension and a seven-day vehicle impound were applied as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in January 2026.
Police remind the public that driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is a criminal offence with serious consequences.
Authorities urge residents to plan ahead, arrange a designated driver, or use taxis or public transit to avoid impaired driving.
