United Way Northumberland is inviting residents to celebrate the holiday season while supporting essential community programs during United Way Week at Barrett’s Christmas Tree Farm.
The fundraising event runs December 8 to 14 at 3141 Williamson Road in Cobourg, with a portion of every Fun Farm ticket purchased helping United Way deliver vital services in poverty alleviation, food security and mental health.
A long-standing local tradition, the partnership offers families a festive and meaningful way to give back. Visitors can meet Luna the donkey and her animal friends, roast marshmallows at the campfire, explore vintage tractors and a kid-friendly airplane, and shop in the holiday workshop. The farm’s cut-your-own tree area will also be open throughout the week, giving families a chance to bring home a Christmas tree while contributing to a good cause.
United Way Northumberland Executive Director Alicia Vandine says community partnerships like this one demonstrate how simple actions can make a direct impact on neighbours in need. She encourages families to plan a visit on Friday, December 13, when United Way team members will be on site to share stories of how fundraising dollars support local programs.
Tickets for United Way Week are five dollars per person on weekdays from December 9 to 12, ten dollars on December 8 and on the weekend dates of December 13 and 14, and twenty-five dollars for a weekend family pass.
United Way Northumberland has supported local social service programs since 1969 and is the region’s largest non-government funder of community initiatives. The organization works to build strong communities by helping children and youth thrive and moving individuals and families from poverty to possibility.
