Port Hope Council will convene a special meeting on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at 2 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Town Hall.
The session will begin with a closed portion, permitted under Section 239 of the Municipal Act, to receive information supplied in confidence to the municipality by provincial or federal authorities. This includes a briefing from Ontario Power Generation on potential energy development opportunities in Port Hope. Council will also be updated by municipal staff on ongoing negotiations with OPG, which are similarly confidential under the Act as they relate to strategy used in current and future discussions.
Once the closed business concludes, Council will reconvene in open session to resume deliberation on the Ward Boundary and Council Composition Review Interim Report. Due to time limitations at the November 4 special meeting, council determined more discussion was required on how to proceed with the next stage of public engagement tied to representation and electoral structure.
Residents may attend the open portion in person or watch through the Municipality’s YouTube livestream.
The Municipality has encouraged those seeking further information or clarification about the meeting format to contact the Legislative Services Office.
