Youth Hub announcement May 2, 2025
Rebound Child & Youth Services is preparing to officially open the Youth Wellness Hub Ontario (YWHO) Northumberland site at 15 Cavan Street in Port Hope, offering a single, youth-friendly access point for essential health and social services.
According to Rebound Interim Executive Director, Pinder DaSilva some scheduling changes and challenges that would have resulted in a number of key stakeholders and provincial funders no longer able to attend, the decision was made to change the grand opening/ribbon cutting ceremony from November 26th to December 12th at 9 am.
DaSilva says that although the formal ribbon cutting ceremony date has changed to Dec 12th, the other YWHO celebrations are moving forward. There will still be a community open house on November 26th from 12 pm – 5 pm to welcome partners and community members into the space and the Hub will be open for client service effective December 1, 2025.
The Hub will provide free, judgment-free support across a wide range of needs, including primary care, mental health and substance use counselling, peer support, life skills programs, and community and social services. DaSilva says the opening reflects 18 months of planning, renovations, and collaboration aimed at improving access to youth services in Northumberland County.
DaSilva says demand has already been clear since virtual services began this summer, highlighting the need for rapid, barrier-free support for young people who often face long wait times, limited transportation, and financial challenges.
YWHO Northumberland joins a provincewide network of 32 Youth Wellness Hubs and is led by Rebound Child & Youth Services in partnership with six local organizations, as well as Youth and Family Advisory Councils. The Hub is funded by the Government of Ontario and aims to ensure that every young person who walks through the door is supported regardless of their background, circumstances, or current service use.
