The Northumberland Humane Society (NHS) is calling on residents in Cobourg and Colborne to help local animals during this year’s Holiday Smile Cookie campaign, running November 17 to 23 at participating Tim Hortons locations.
Every two-dollar cookie purchased this week supports Tim’s Camps as well as essential services at the shelter, including food, medical treatment and safe housing for animals waiting to be adopted.
NHS Community Outreach Specialist Krystyne Gillespie says buying by the dozen offers the best value for supporters.
Gillespie notes the organization relies entirely on community donations, making campaigns like this vital.
Residents can also pre-order cookies for workplaces, clients or community groups. Order forms can be dropped off at local Tim Hortons restaurants, and larger orders can be coordinated directly through NHS.
In addition to fundraising, the Humane Society urgently needs volunteers to help decorate cookies throughout the rest of the week.
Anyone with a few spare hours between now and Saturday can call the NHS shelter at 289-252-2236 to volunteer.
In related news: Brighton’s Holiday Smile Cookies are also underway this week, raising funds for Brighton Fire and Rescue and in Quinte West for the Trenton Memorial Hospital as well and the Tim Hortons Foundation Camps. In Port Hope, proceeds will go to the youth wellness hub opening next week.
