An early morning traffic stop in Cobourg has led to multiple drug trafficking charges after police seized cocaine, oxycodone and cash from a vehicle.
Police say they pulled over a vehicle around 1:25 a.m. Monday near Chipping Park Boulevard and Cornell Crescent. Officers reported finding an open container of alcohol and detecting the smell of liquor, prompting a search under the Liquor Licence and Control Act.
During the search, officers seized roughly 17 grams of cocaine, 8.18 grams of oxycodone pills, cash and a weighing scale.
Jamie-Lee Smith, 35, of Carrying Place, is charged with possession of cocaine and opioids for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds obtained by crime under $5,000, and driving with an open container of liquor.
Smith was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
