The holiday season of giving is underway in Port Hope, as the Tammie’s Jammies pajama drive launches its ninth year of collecting cozy sleepwear and donations for children in foster care.
The 2025 campaign kicks off with a community launch party on Wednesday, November 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ganaraska Financial Credit Union. Guests can enjoy hot apple cider, cookies, and festive networking while supporting a meaningful cause.
Port Hope Police’s Tammie Staples tells us how she got started nearly a decade ago.
The drive, created by Staples, was inspired by her own family tradition of gifting pajamas on Christmas Eve.
Staples tells us more.
Through the Children’s Foundation, each donated pair helps ensure every child in foster care receives a warm gift to open and wear during the holidays.
Last year’s campaign collected 2,780 pairs of pajamas, and organizers hope to exceed that total this year.
Ganaraska Financial Credit Union will once again be hosting the launch party at their branch in Port Hope.
Megan Carr tells us why the credit union continues to step up for Tammies Jammies.
Donation boxes are now being placed throughout the community at locations that will include the Port Hope Police Station, municipal buildings, Port Hope Transit buses, and local businesses such as Queenie’s Bakery, Giant Tiger, Davis’ Independent Grocer, Lakeridge Chrysler, and JJ’s Steak and Burger in Cobourg.
The Tammie’s Jammies team says the annual drive is about more than pajamas – it’s about sharing comfort, care, and community spirit during the holidays.
