Cobourg Police say a 55-year-old woman is facing multiple weapons charges after being stopped by officers early Thursday morning.
According to police, the traffic stop occurred around 3:30 a.m. on November 6 in the area of Chipping Park Boulevard and Cornell Crescent for a Highway Traffic Act violation.
During the stop, officers determined the driver was wanted on an outstanding warrant from another police service. She was arrested, and a subsequent search of her person and vehicle uncovered a prohibited knife and a spring-loaded baton.
The woman has been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, failure to comply with a probation order, and failure to comply with an undertaking.
Police say she was also issued a Part 3 Summons for driving a motor vehicle without a valid permit.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
