Police are calling on the public for help after an alleged break-and-enter on Meade Street in Brighton involving two men who fled from Northumberland OPP.
On Monday, Sept. 22, 2025, Northumberland OPP said their investigation is continuing after Sunday evening (Sept. 21) at about 8:40 p.m. officers responded to a report of a break-and-enter in-progress at a multi-unit residence on Meade Street.
“The caller advised that two persons were attempting to break into their residence,” reported OPP.
After arriving on scene, police said two involved males allegedly fled the location.
The canine unit and emergency response team were called in to help with a search, but police said the individuals weren’t found.
Police noted that paramedics also responded to the residence for non-serious injuries.
OPP’s forensic identification services were also at the location Sunday evening to help with the probe, and the crime unit is now heading up on the ongoing investigation.
On Monday, Northumberland OPP also issued a call for the public’s help, urging anyone with information relating to the investigation to reach out to police at 1-888-310-1122. Police provided a reference occurrence number of E251289075.
Police are also reminding citizens that should they wish to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers is an option by calling 1-800-222-8477 where tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
