
Port Hope Police say a 41-year-old woman has been charged after officers interrupted a theft in progress at a local business.
On September 3, 2025, police were dispatched to a Peter Street store following reports of a shoplifting incident. When officers arrived, they located a female suspect inside the store allegedly actively concealing clothing items in a bag and removing price tags.
According to police, the woman was arrested at the scene and charged with theft under $5,000 – shoplifting. She was later released on an Appearance Notice with a court date set for October. In addition, she was issued a trespass order barring her from returning to the business.
