
According to the federal government Northumberland County and its municipalities are set to receive funding through the Canada Community-Building Fund in 2025-2026 to help maintain and improve local infrastructure.
Funding allocations include:
Northumberland, County of – $2,908,964.42
Cobourg – $671,999
Port Hope – $566,381
Township of Alnwick/Haldimand – $244,742
Municipality of Brighton – $396,539
Township of Cramahe – $213,171
Township of Hamilton – $362,184
Officals say the program provides flexible funding that municipalities can use for a wide range of infrastructure priorities, including roads, public housing, parks, and community facilities. This allows local governments to plan for current and future needs and invest in projects that best support their communities.
Across Ontario, the Government of Canada is providing more than $748 million through the fund to 652 recipients in 2025-2026. The program ensures communities of all sizes have access to stable funding for their infrastructure priorities.
Nearby Peterborough City will receive $5.5 million while Quinte West is set to receive $3 million, demonstrating the program’s wider regional reach. The funding helps municipalities maintain roads, upgrade public facilities, and improve parks and recreational spaces.
Residents in Northumberland County can expect investments that support safer streets, improved public spaces, and stronger community infrastructure. Overall, officials say the Canada Community-Building Fund strengthens local communities by providing the resources municipalities need to maintain and enhance essential services and facilities that benefit daily life and future growth.
