The Municipality of Port Hope will receive a $10,000 grant from Enbridge Gas to support the rollout of its new Community Climate Action Plan (CCAP).
It marks the second year in a row the municipality has been recognized for its leadership in environmental sustainability through Enbridge’s Municipal Climate Action Offer.
Last year’s funding was used to develop the CCAP. Approved in June, the plan is a detailed roadmap to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and build a more resilient community. It outlines 17 targeted strategies spanning residential, commercial and institutional buildings, transportation, land-use planning, agriculture, environmental stewardship, and waste and water management.
This year’s grant will help turn those strategies into action, with projects focused on reducing natural gas consumption, improving energy efficiency, and encouraging community participation in sustainable practices.
The initiatives are designed to both lower emissions and support local resilience in the face of climate change. Residents can expect to see efforts aimed at energy conservation, sustainable land use, and long-term environmental protection.
Enbridge Gas says the Municipal Climate Action Offer connects Ontario municipalities with funding, expertise, and proven programs that can reduce emissions and operating costs. Port Hope’s partnership with Enbridge will help advance local climate priorities while benefiting both the environment and the local economy.
