The federal government’s Canada Strong Pass is gaining momentum, with tourism officials estimating that thousands of Canadians and visitors have already taken advantage of it since its June 20 launch.
Running until September 2, 2025, the program offers expanded access to Canada’s nature and culture, aiming to help families discover and celebrate the country throughout the summer.
Unlike traditional passes, the Canada Strong Pass is not a physical card – there is no purchase, sign-up, or collection required. Travellers simply visit a participating Parks Canada site, museum, gallery, or VIA Rail service to receive free admission or discounted fares.
The initiative covers hundreds of attractions nationwide, from remote national parks to major urban museums. Officials say the program’s goal is to make exploring Canada more affordable, stimulate domestic travel, and support local tourism economies during the peak summer season.
Tourism operators are optimistic that removing cost barriers will result in more overnight stays, restaurant visits, and retail spending. Early feedback suggests destinations are already seeing increased foot traffic.
The Canada Strong Pass complements ongoing efforts to promote Canada’s cultural and natural heritage, offering a unique opportunity for Canadians and international visitors to experience more of the country without paperwork or advance registration.
Officials encourage the public to take advantage of the program before it wraps up in early September, making the most of summer travel opportunities.
