The All Hands on Deck Food Drive, presented by Elliott Insurance Services, takes place Thursday, August 14, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at multiple locations in Cobourg and Port Hope.
Residents can donate non-perishable food items and school supplies at Metro, Foodland, No Frills and Walmart in Cobourg, as well as Giant Tiger, Food Basics and Independent in Port Hope.
Dave Elliott, President of Elliott Insurance tells us his team transitioned from holiday food drives to supporting the food drive.
All contributions will benefit Food 4 All Northumberland and the Northumberland Fare Share Food Bank, ensuring local families have access to essential items as the school year approaches.
Elliott tells us he hopes everyone can help make a difference this year.
Volunteers and local radio personalities will be on hand at each location to greet donors and help collect contributions. Organizers say the event is an important opportunity to give back, particularly as many households face rising food costs and increased need.
According to Elliott, good things happen when the community gets together behind a cause like this.
The food drive has become a well-supported annual tradition, with community members, local businesses and service organizations working together to fill food bank shelves. Organizers encourage residents to shop for a few extra items during their grocery trip and drop them off at one of the collection sites.
