
After a traffic stop on Hwy. 401, four people are facing charges and Quinte West OPP has allegedly seized roughly $114,000 worth of drugs.
According to OPP, the traffic was initiated on Hwy. 401 between Hwy. 33 and Glen Miller Road in Quinte West on Sunday, Aug. 11, 2025, at about 9 a.m.
In a release issued Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2025, police said uniform officers had help from the OPP’s community street crime unit and Quinte West’s crime unit, as well as the canine unit, in allegedly seizing over a kilogram of suspected cocaine, along with suspected cannabis and Percocet.
Police said the estimated street value of the drugs is about $114,000 and that OPP also seized more than $7,500 in Canadian currency.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 23-year-old Nepean resident was charged with obstructing a peace officer, possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, operation while impaired – drugs, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, flight from a peace officer, possession of 30g of dried cannabis in a public place, driving with a coated window – obstructed view, and driving with cannabis readily available.
Two Gloucester residents – a 24-year-old and 27-year-old – were also charged with possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and obstructing a peace officer, reported OPP.
The investigation also led to a 32-year-old from Gloucester charged with possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, said police.
None of these charges have been proven in court. All of the accused were initially held in custody pending a bail hearing in Belleville.
