Registration is now open for the 2025 Hike, Bike and Bark for Hospice, taking place Sunday, September 28 at Victoria Park in Cobourg.
The annual fundraiser for Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre Foundation began as a community walk and has grown to include cycling and pet-friendly routes, drawing participants from across the county. The event supports end-of-life care and grief services offered at no cost to local families.
Participants can walk, cycle, or bring their dogs along one of the 2, 5, or 10-kilometre routes. Kids under 12 and dogs join for free, while those 13 and older can register for $30, which includes an official event t-shirt and race kit.
Anyone who registers between August 11 and 31 will be entered into a draw for one of three early bird prize packs. Participants can sign up as individuals, join an existing team, or start one of their own. Each registrant gets a personalized fundraising dashboard to track donations, share their story, and compete for Top Fundraiser honours.
Funds raised help cover services such as Volunteer Hospice support, In-Home Visiting Hospice, Education, Grief and Bereavement Counselling, and around-the-clock care in Ed’s House’s 10-suite residence. CEO Trish Baird says it’s a “fun, uplifting day for a great cause” and thanks the committee, staff, and volunteers who are fundamental in making the event possible.
Local businesses, organizations, and community groups are encouraged to get involved as sponsors. To learn more, contact Kristin Andrews at k.andrews@commcare.ca or 905-885-0466.
