The first-ever Kawarthas Northumberland Regional Tourism Summit is set to take place Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at the historic Capitol Theatre in Port Hope.
Organized by Regional Tourism Organization 8 (RTO8), in partnership with Northumberland County, the City of Kawartha Lakes, Peterborough County, and the City of Peterborough, the one-day event is designed to bring tourism operators together under the theme Stronger Together, Shaping the Future of Rural Tourism.
Targeting businesses in accommodation, food and beverage, retail, attractions, events, guiding and agritourism, the summit promises a day of insight, networking, and collaboration. Keynote speaker Andrew Siegwart, President and CEO of the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario, will open the day, followed by panel discussions on Indigenous collaboration, agritourism, event sustainability, and content marketing.
“Tourism is at the heart of our region’s identity and economy,” says Brenda Wood, Executive Director of RTO8. “This summit is an opportunity to come together, share ideas, and develop practical tools to support a thriving, resilient tourism sector.”
The event also features the Tasters Market-a curated showcase of local food and beverage producers-along with locally catered meals and a sweet treat from the Kawarthas Northumberland Butter Tart Tour.
“We are thrilled to host the summit in Northumberland County,” says Diane Murenbeeld, Manager of Northumberland Tourism. “It’s a great opportunity to show off the region’s rich culture and natural beauty.”
Early bird pricing is in effect until September 5. To register, visit www.rto8.com/summit.
