A Trent Hills resident has been charged, and another two suspects remain wanted by police after the alleged theft of three motorcycles in North Kawartha Township, say police.
According to Peterborough County OPP, on July 28, 2025, police received a call about three motorcycles stolen, along with other property, from a North Kawartha Township residence.
The caller reportedly told police that sometime that morning, a garage on their property on County Road 504 had been broken into. Various items were reportedly out of place and a lock on the building had been broken, police were told.
After arriving on scene, an officer was provided a list of items that were discovered missing, inclusive of three motorcycles, helmets, alcohol and a large fuel container, reported OPP.
One of the motorcycles was reportedly built as a showpiece and was not meant to be driven.
On-site security cameras helped police obtain images of three suspects and a vehicle they were driving, said police, adding the vehicle left the property with a black trailer also allegedly taken from the property with the motorcycles loaded on it.
On Aug. 7, 2025, members of the Peterborough/Northumberland community street crime unit attended a Warkworth address, where one individual was arrested, and one of the three motorcycles, along with the trailer, was allegedly found. The property was returned to the owner, added OPP.
As a result of the investigation, police said a 48-year-old Trent Hills resident was arrested and charged with break, enter a place – commit an indictable offence.
This charge has not been proven in court. The accused will appear in Peterborough court on Sept. 9, 2025, reported OPP.
Meanwhile, police said the two outstanding suspects have been identified and warrants issued for their arrest.
Investigators are actively looking for information that may lead to the location of the outstanding suspect(s) involved in this theft, added OPP.
Police urge the public to call in tips on this case to Peterborough OPP at 705-742-0401, the non-emergency line at 1888-310-1122 or to Crime Stoppers.
