The annual Port Hope Arts Festival takes place this Saturday, August 9, and the Municipality is reminding residents to expect some road and parking disruptions throughout the day.
Augusta Street from Queen Street to Elias Street will be closed from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. to accommodate the outdoor vendor market. Later in the day, Queen Street from Walton Street to Augusta Street will be closed from 4 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. for a free outdoor street concert.
The Town Hall parking lot will also be closed to support the Port Hope Farmers’ Market.
To help make access easier, Port Hope Transit will avoid Augusta Street on its route to the Transit Transfer Hub, but no stops will be affected. Transit remains free during Walton Street reconstruction, and the Municipality is encouraging residents to take advantage of it or consider carpooling.
Overflow parking will be available at Queen and Robertson Streets as well as at 95 Mill Street South.
Visitors are also encouraged to plan ahead and make time to visit the many downtown shops and restaurants, which will remain open throughout the day.
The Port Hope Arts Festival is a showcase of local creativity with artisan vendors, live music, and a strong community vibe.
