Three men are facing charges after Cobourg Police responded to separate incidents on August 5 and 6.
In the first incident, a 37-year-old Cobourg man was arrested Tuesday afternoon near King Street East and Church Street. Police say the man was violating court-imposed conditions. During his arrest, officers allegedly located brass knuckles. He is now facing multiple charges including possession of a prohibited weapon, possession contrary to an order, failure to comply with probation, and trespassing. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
Later that evening, around 8:30 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance at a home in the James Street West and George Street area. A resident had reported what sounded like an assault. Although police found no evidence of violence, they say officers saw controlled substances in plain view. A 29-year-old man was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, cocaine, crack cocaine, and unknown pills. He was released on an undertaking.
The third arrest occurred just after midnight on Wednesday, August 6, when officers on patrol spotted a man near Division Street and Chapel Street with suspected drugs beside him. Further investigation revealed he was under court-ordered curfew conditions. The 21-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with possession of fentanyl and three counts of breaching a conditional sentence order. He was held for a Show Cause Hearing.
Police continue to encourage the public to report suspicious activity.
