An 18-year-old Cobourg man has been charged in connection with a theft from a local business on Elgin Street.
On July 29, 2025, Cobourg Police responded to a call from staff at the business who reported a man entered the store with a group of people, selected merchandise, and left without paying. The group then departed the area in a vehicle.
Investigators reviewed surveillance footage and were able to identify and later locate the vehicle in a nearby parking lot. Officers searched the surrounding area and found the suspect a short distance away.
As a result of the investigation, police arrested the 18-year-old and charged him with one count of theft under $5000.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court at a future date.
