With local food bank shelves thinning and back-to-school costs climbing, 93.3 myFM and Classic Rock 107.9 are teaming up again for the annual All Hands on Deck Food Drive on Thursday, August 14.
The event is presented by Elliott Insurance Services and runs from 10 am to 6 pm with donation stations at major grocers in Cobourg and Port Hope.
Volunteer Chair of Northumberland Fare Share Food Bank, Dick Kauling explains how your donations help across Northumberland County.
He says despite strong support, the demand keeps growing.
The focus this year is again on non-perishable food with a focus on school supplies to help local children start the year strong.
Kauling encourages donors to give thoughtfully.
Last year’s event collected over 8,000 pounds of food and nearly $15,000 in donations.
