A 26-year-old woman from Cobourg is facing several charges following a theft investigation involving backyard surveillance footage.
Cobourg Police say officers responded to a report of theft on July 19, 2025, after a homeowner in the town’s east end noticed someone removing a wagon from their backyard. The complainant told police the theft had been captured on their home’s CCTV system.
Investigators reviewed the video and were able to identify a suspect. The following day, on July 20, the woman was located in Cobourg’s downtown core.
As a result of the investigation, police charged the woman with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. She was also charged with two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
Police say the woman was held in custody for a bail hearing.
