Cobourg Police are seeing results as part of their ongoing Safer Streets Cobourg initiative, which launched on June 16, 2025. The program is designed to support public safety, encourage engagement, and create a more welcoming environment in downtown Cobourg and surrounding areas according to police.
In their two-week update released July 22, police reported 823 calls for service between June 30 and July 13. During this period, officers conducted 45 foot patrols and 98 property checks. They responded to 30 trespassing complaints and made 16 arrests related to outstanding warrants and bail compliance issues.
Police also dealt with two drug-related incidents and issued nine charges under the Liquor Licence Control Act.
The Cobourg Police Service Auxiliary Unit has continued its high-visibility patrols, focusing on downtown businesses. Officers have been sharing information about the Trespass Authority Agent Program and the Community Camera Registry Program. To date, 36 local businesses have registered for the Trespass Authority Agent Program.
Police say these partnerships help strengthen enforcement efforts and improve response times when incidents occur.
The Safer Streets Cobourg program is part of the police service’s broader commitment to proactive community policing. Police say they will continue engaging with businesses and residents to promote safety, awareness, and collaboration.
