On the morning of Tuesday, July 15, 2025, the Cobourg Police Service issued a release saying police were on scene in the Fisher Street and Kerr Street area investigating an assault. The service is continuing to urge anyone with information about the incident to reach out to investigators.
Police said they responded to the area at about 7 a.m. Tuesday following a report of two men dressed in dark clothing and wearing masks entering a wooded area. They allegedly assaulted two people in a tent with bear spray and a baseball bat, reported police.
One victim sustained minor injuries and was cleared at the scene, while the other victim was sent to hospital with serious injuries, said police.
It’s believed the suspects fled the area on foot, said police, adding that their investigation is ongoing.
