
A 23-year-old Hamilton Township man is facing several charges after police responded to a report of an assault in Cobourg’s east end.
Cobourg Police say they were called to a residence on Monday, July 7, 2025, after receiving reports that a man had assaulted a female. According to investigators, a group of residents attempted to help the woman, but the man became violent, allegedly assaulting three people and making death threats.
Following the investigation, the man was arrested and charged with nine offences, including two counts of assault – spousal, three counts of assault, and multiple counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. Police say some of the threats were also directed toward the female victim.
The accused was held in custody for a show cause hearing.
